Maryland’s timber racing scene for most of the 1960s was dominated by two Maryland-breds – National Museum of Racing Hall of Famer Jay Trump and Mountain Dew. 

In his first year of eligibility, Ben’s Cat was a slam dunk for induction into the Maryland Thoroughbred Hall of Fame.

In January 2013 the Maryland Horse Breeders Association (MHBA) and the Maryland Racing Media Association (MRMA) began collaborating on plans for a hall of fame to illuminate the accomplishments of Maryland-bred Thoroughbreds.
